So for over a month now its been interesting to watch with nervousness and interest the 'Florida outpouring', Many have been healed in what has been called a revival, that word excites me, what doesn't excite me is the antics that come along with 'this so called revival', everything being put out across the nations on the prosperity Religion channel 'God TV', the Boom, Bam, Head butting, pushing to the floor, stuff just worries me, it puts the integrity of many Christians on the line, one would seriously think that everyone going up on stage signs something to promise to fall to the floor, I know when we read the Bible we see much written on the weighty presence of God, but in the 21st century church the formula for God to move in your life now seems to be copied time and time again, hands laid on, and then hit the deck. When Jesus had his healing crusade on earth he didn't use the same method twice, he was original so that a doctrine wasn't formed out of it, but it seems now the charismatic church is inventing a healing doctrine.
I'm not saying what is happening in Florida isn't of God, but I'm carefully analysing it, the Bible reminds us of the rising up of false prophets in the last days, to many tele healing evangelists have created ministries bringing glory to their name, if these people want think they have the gift of healing what don't they turn up at hospitals and start empting them of patients, why aren't they turning up at AA meetings to release people from alcohol addictions, why aren't they going to the people instead of making people come to them? If leaders are to serve they need to get off the stage and out of the limelight and bring signs and wonders to those who need it, I'm tired of watching fake stuff, with the power of TV and the money that comes with that I worry that the integrity of churches and Christianity is being destroyed, maybe I need to go to these places to see for myself? not sure, but the fact is a Todd Bentley prayer is no more effective than anyone else's prayer, Paul urges us his letter to the Corinth to spend much time with God in the secret place, celebrity Christianity worries me! Tune into God TV or http://www.freshfire.ca/ to have a look for yourself.

yeah. i quite agree with you, phil. it's not just to slag or belittle this happening, it might be fully of GOD's glory. but because it's so focused on one man and one man's ways, it seems unlike CHRIST and how HE healed people. perhaps a chance for us to examine our hearts and response to this and understand why we're reacting - maybe to accept GOD works in ways we don't always agree with, or maybe to understand that GOD is consistent with HIMSELF.
Hi Phil I am not a Christian and I was not brought up in a Christian home but I was sent to sunday school twice a day and to church I know what I need to do to get to heaven but haven't made that commitment.
I have a lot of friends who go to your church and are baptised and profess to be Christians but they are living the same life as me. I know most of them would not be there only for the happy clapping music. I believe if you didn't have that you would not have so many in your church. Also they seem to think it is alright to go out and do the worldy things and then just to go home and ask God to forgive them for it. No one is perfect and we all know that but I was brought up to believe you ask God into your heart and he forgives your sins but you don't go on with those sins and then ask him to forgive them over and over again. It seems to me most Christians today are living a double life none of it for God just one for the Pastor and one for themselves. My Mother and Father became Christians and I saw them live the Christian life and it was nothing like the life so called Christians are living today yes we live in a differnet society now but the bible is the same we cannot change that to suit the times. I am not slagging your church at all just stating what I know to be true. I know I should not look at these people but look above but it is all a farse and it is more like worshipping the pastor like a fan club. Please don't take this as knocking your church but in reference to the Florida thing it is not far removed. I read about you wee son Ben accepting God into his life and that is great and to have a dad like you to show him the real Christian life.
Thanks for you comment, in response can you see how dull everything would be without music? music is a big part of life for many, its a big part of Gods house, so i think its a good thing to have talented people use their Gifts to bring Glory to Gods name, as for the way some live out their lives, thats something the indiviuals may need approached about by fellow believers as that is every christians responsibility to watch out for their brothers ans sisters in Christ, the fact is we need to live for lives in this world but need to be set apart from the sin that claws so many back in its grip, sin has a way of spoiling things for churches and individuals, but believe me for everyone there will come a time in their walk with God when they will cry, "All to Jesus I surrender", for some it takes a real encounter/experience with God, for others the death of a loved one, maybe an accident, but i would leave this in Gods hand, everyday God is showing me things i need to get right, or improve on, over short periods of time i see little change but when i look back 5 or 10
years i see major changes, if you want to email me again please do on philipkstone@gmail.com, God bless you in your journey through life, My prayer for you is that you would have a God encounter someday soon!
